PCA has partnered with roughly 3,500 schools, districts, conferences, youth sports organizations and park-and-rec departments to create a Development Zone® culture, where the goal is using youth and high school sports to develop stronger social-emotional learning and leadership and reasoning developmental opportunities. The partnership provides the city’s coaches with access to PCA’s training, tools and resources for coaches, sports parents, youth athletes and administrators through live group workshops, online courses, books by PCA Founder Jim Thompson and additional online resources. This position is responsible for the preparation, planning and instruction of assigned water exercise classes, relationship building, and providing excellent customer service. Water Exercise Instructors must operate within the policies, procedures, and practices of the North Olmsted Parks and Recreation. Patiently provide positive feedback and reinforcement in response to the participants learning and practicing skills. Learn to swim instructors will provide a prepared lesson plan and support participants in achieving their goals while maintaining a constant supervision of all class participants. Interested candidates must have a current lifeguard certificate and be 16 years of age or older.Ĭurrent positions available: Early mornings (5 AM), daytime, evenings and weekends. They will keep the pool area free of all hazards and perform maintenance duties as assigned. Lifeguards will provide a safe aquatic environment for all people by knowing and understand the pool safety policies and enforcing them in a courteous manner. Admission to water exercise classes are included in your monthly or annual memberships. Water fitness classes are a fun way to exercise, and the low-impact workout builds strength and flexibility for people of all ages. The pool is great for exercise because the water offers resistance while reducing the impact of land-based exercises. This test consists of a 300 yard swim (front crawl and breaststroke with proper technique required), retrieval of a ten pound weight from a depth of 7 to 10 feet and two minutes of treading water with no arms. All participants must pass the prerequisite skills test administered during the first class. Successful completion of this course will qualify participants for employment as a lifeguard. We provide a variety of levels for all ages and skills.Īmerican Red Cross Lifeguard Training classes offer great skills for candidates ages 15 and older who are seeking employment as a lifeguard. Our program is designed to provide a safe learning environment for children ages 18 months – 12 years old.
